Health charities are joining forces in the pursuit of a healthy generation. Parents are being called upon, for example, to sign a petition to put an end to ‘child-directed marketing’ on unhealthy products. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre has responded to this with the teaching package Weet wat je eet (Do You Know What You’re Eating?), developed specifically for pupils at all levels in secondary education and vocational training. Through this teaching material, pupils discover what healthy eating involves, how to make more sustainable choices, and how to resist temptation. The package consists of six online lessons that pupils can work through independently. It requires minimal preparation from the teacher, yet the freedom to choose between lessons and assignments gives the package considerable flexibility. Once a free teacher account has been created, pupils can log in using a class code, allowing their progress to be monitored. The online teaching material is available at wwje.nl. (Milena Vlot)
